SIT30707 Certificate III in Hospitality

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in skilled operations with the need to apply discretion and judgement. Work would be undertaken in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. Individuals may have some responsibility for others and provide technical advice and support to a team.

Prerequisites: 

There are no prerequisites for entry into this qualification.

Course Outcomes: 

This course will provide participants with the knowledge and skill to;

  • Advance their  interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Develop the cultural awareness that is required by all people working in the tourism and hospitality areas
  • Update their  knowledge of the hospitality industry including different industry sectors and relevant industry legislation
  • Follow health, safety and security procedures
  • Provide food and beverage service to customers in a range of industry enterprises
  • Gain the skills required to follow key hygiene procedures which apply in hospitality and tourism enterprises

Qualification Rules: 

To be awarded this qualification, the student must successfully complete 16 units of competency, 8 Core units and 8 Elective units.

Accreditation and Articulation: 

Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a SIT30707 Certificate III in Hospitality.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Pathways from the Qualification: 

After achieving the SIT30707 Certificate III in Hospitality, students may undertake the SIT40307 Certificate IV in Hospitality, or a range of other Certificate IV qualifications.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 

A formal process for recognising skills and knowledge, RPL takes into account previous studies you may have completed as well as life and work experiences. You may be granted credits or exemptions for some units in this course.
