BSB41407 Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others. This qualification would suit an OHS officer in a full-time dedicated role who works under supervision of an OHS Coordinator or OHS Manager.
There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.
Participants achieving this qualification will develop skills and knowledge in;
- What it means to implement an effective OH&S management system in your workplace
- How to work with others in your workplace to address OH&S issues
- Legislative requirements that need to be understood and applied to policy and practice in your workplace
- Ensuring consistency when implementing OH&S initiatives and processes based on organisational goals and objectives
- How to effectively facilitate groups
Core units
- BSBOHS401B - Contribute to the implementation of a systematic approach to managing OHS
- BSBOHS402B - Contribute to the implementation of the OHS consultation process
- BSBOHS403B - Identifying hazards and assessing OHS risks
- BSBOHS404B - Contribute to the implementation of strategies to control OHS risk
- BSBOHS405B - Contribute to the implementation of emergency procedures
- BSBOHS408A - Assist with compliance with OHS and other relevant laws
Elective units
- BSBRES401A - Analyse and present research information
- BSBRSK401A - Identify risk and apply risk management processes
- TAADEL402B - Facilitate group-based learning
To be awarded this qualification, the student must successfully complete 9 units of competency, 6 Occupational Health and Safety units and 3 Elective units.
Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a BSB41407 Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
After achieving the BSB41407 Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety, students may undertake the BSB51307 Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety, or a range of other Advanced Diploma qualifications.
A formal process for recognising skills and knowledge, RPL takes into account previous studies you may have completed as well as life and work experiences. You may be granted credits or exemptions for some units in this course.
