ICA40305 Certificate IV in Information Technology (Websites)

This qualification is designed to provide the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in website design and/or administration either as an independent ICT specialist or as part of a team. The qualification has a strong ICT base with the potential for inclusion of a range of broader design and multimedia units to suit particular needs.

Prerequisites: 

Minimum entry requirement is competence in the following 9 units of competency;

  • BSBOHS201A - Participate in OHS processes
  • ICAU1128B - Operate a personal computer
  • ICAD2012B - Design organisational documents using computing packages
  • ICAU2005B - Operate computer hardware
  • ICAU2006B - Operate computing packages
  • ICAU2013B - Integrate commercial computing packages
  • ICAU2231B - Use computer operating system
  • ICAW2001B - Work effectively in an IT environment
  • ICAW2002B - Communicate in the workplace

A number of units within this qualification have prerequisites.

Course Outcomes: 

Participants achieving this qualification will develop skills and knowledge in;

  • Designing and constructing web pages and creating the look and feel of the website
  • Create in consultation with the client, the flow or ‘story’ of the website and how information will be displayed
  • Various technical aspects of the website; graphical knowledge, knowledge of specific technologies and various platforms; creative flair and ability to put down an image; layout and design skills; technical knowledge of hardware, and software and specific web languages
  • Managing various technical aspects of the website, including performance
  • Creating, developing and manipulating digital images for the website

Qualification Rules: 

To be awarded this qualification, the student must successfully complete 25 units of competency, 12 Core units, 9 Specialist stream core units and 4 Elective units.

Accreditation and Articulation: 

Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a ICA40305 Certificate IV in Information Technology (Websites).

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Pathways from the Qualification: 

After achieving the ICA40305 Certificate IV in Information Technology (Websites), students may undertake the ICA50605 Diploma of Information Technology (Website Development), or a range of other Diploma qualifications.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 

A formal process for recognising skills and knowledge, RPL takes into account previous studies you may have completed as well as life and work experiences. You may be granted credits or exemptions for some units in this course.
