BSB40407 Certificate IV in Small Business Management

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and broad knowledge base in a wide variety of small business contexts.  They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.  They may provide leadership and guidance to others and have responsibility for the output of others.

Prerequisites: 

There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.

  • BSBSMB401A - Establish legal and risk management requirements of small business
  • BSBSMB402A - Plan small business finances
  • BSBSMB403A - Market the small business
  • BSBSMB404A - Undertake small business planning

  • BSBSMB405A - Monitor and manage small business operations
  • BSBSMB407A - Manage a small team
  • BSBMKG414A - Undertake marketing activities
  • BSBREL402A - Build client relationships and business networks
  • BSBPMG510A - Manage projects
  • BSBCUS402A - Address customer needs
Qualification Rules: 

To be awarded this qualification, the student must successfully complete 10 units of competency, 4 Core units, and 6 Elective units.

Accreditation and Articulation: 

Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a BSB40407 Certificate IV in Small Business Management.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Pathways from the Qualification: 

After achieving the BSB40407 Certificate IV in Small Business Management, students may undertake a qualification in a specialist area within the BSB07 Business Services Training Package such as marketing, management, human resources.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 

A formal process for recognising skills and knowledge, RPL takes into account previous studies you may have completed as well as life and work experiences. You may be granted credits or exemptions for some units in this course.
