CHC30202 Certificate III in Home and Community Care
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in the community under regular supervision within clearly defined organisational guidelines and service plans. They carry out activities related to the maintenance of an individual’s personal care and/or other activities of living and report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for others.
Individuals at this level are required to have an understanding of Indigenous culture and history and to work with local communities in the provision of services.
There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.
Participants achieving this qualification will develop skills and knowledge in;
- Providing care and support to older people
- Providing a range of home care and personal care services
- Communicating effectively with staff and clients
- How to promote wellbeing by meeting individual needs
- Legislation related to aged care and the community services sector
- Safety procedures for direct care work

- CHCAC15A - Provide care support which is responsive to the specific nature of dementia
- CHCAC3C - Orientation to aged care work
- CHCCOM2B - Communicate appropriately with clients and colleagues
- CHCC405A - Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers
- CHCHC301B - Work effectively in a Home and Community Care Environment
- CHCHC302B - Provide personal care in a home and community care environment
- CHCINF8B - Comply with information requirements of the aged care and community care sectors
- CHCOHS302A - Participate in safety procedures for direct care work
- CHCCS401A - Facilitate cooperative behaviour
- CHCDIS10B - Provide care and support
Elective units
- CHCAC17A - Support the older person to maintain their independence
- CHCAC6C - Support the older person to meet their emotional and psychosocial needs
- CHCCS402A - Respond holistically to client issues
- CHCAC2C - Provide personal care
- CHCDIS1C - Orientation to disability work
To be awarded this qualification, the student must successfully complete 15 units of competency, 10 Core units and 5 Elective units.
Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a CHC30202 Certificate III in Home and Community Care.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
After achieving the CHC30202 Certificate III in Home and Community Care, students may undertake the CHC40202 Certificate IV in Service Co-ordination (Ageing and Disability), CHC40302 Certificate IV in Disability Work, or a range of other Certificate IV qualifications, such as Health and Community Care.
A formal process for recognising skills and knowledge, RPL takes into account previous studies you may have completed as well as life and work experiences. You may be granted credits or exemptions for some units in this course.
