CHC20102 Certificate II in Community Services Support Work
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in residential facilities and/or in the community under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisational guidelines and service plans. They provide ancillary services such as catering, cleaning, laundry, gardening and home maintenance. And report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for others.
There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.
Participants achieving this qualification will develop skills and knowledge in;
- Understanding the ethics of community services
- Providing care and support for older people and those with disabilities
- Understanding the needs of the client
- Effective communication techniques for clients and staff
- Safety procedures for direct care work
- Understanding infection control in the workplace
Core units
- CHCCS301A - Work within a legal and ethical framework
- CHCCOM1B - Communicate with people accessing the services of the organisation
- CHCORG3B - Participate in the work environment
- HLTCSD306B - Respond effectively to difficult or challenging behaviour
- CHCOHS302A - Participate in safety procedures for direct care work
- HLTIN301A - Comply with infection control policies and procedures in health work
- CHCAC3C - Orientation to aged care work
Elective units
- CHCAC17A - Support the older person to maintain their independence
- CHCAC1C - Provide support to the older person
- CHCADMIN5C - Work within the administration protocols of the organisation
- CHCDIS1C - Orientation to disability work
- CHCDIS3C - Provide services to people with disabilities
To be awarded this qualification, the student must successfully complete 12 units of competency, 7 Core units and 5 Elective units.
Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a CHC20102 Certificate II in Community Services Support Work.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
After achieving the CHC20102 Certificate II in Community Services Support Work, students may undertake the CHC30102 Certificate III in Aged Care Work, CHC30202 Certificate III in Home and Community Care, or a range of other Certificate III qualifications.
A formal process for recognising skills and knowledge, RPL takes into account previous studies you may have completed as well as life and work experiences. You may be granted credits or exemptions for some units in this course.
