PRS30103 Certificate III in Security Operations

This course is part of the Asset Security Training Package. It provides training for security officers to provide security services for homes and businesses.

The NSW Commissioner of Police has prescribed the competencies from this qualification required by Security personnel for a variety of licence types. For licensing purposes, you must choose electives in accordance with strict NSW Police requirements.

Pathways from the Qualification: 

The completion of the Certificate II in Security Operations has been designed as a pathway to the following Licence classes;

  • NSW Security Licence Class 1B - which authorises you as a licensee to work as a body guard
  • NSW Security Licence Class 1D - which authorises you as a licensee to work as a guard/dog handler
  • NSW Security Licence Class 1E - which authorises you as a licensee to work as a control room operator
  • NSW Security Licence Class 1F - which authorises you as a licensee to work as an armed guard (either non cash or cash in transit)

To obtain any or all of the above licenses you must hold a relevant provisional security licence by first completing the Certificate I in Security Operations (Pre-licence) and working in the industry for 1 year.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 

A formal process for recognising skills and knowledge, RPL takes into account previous studies you may have completed as well as life and work experiences. You may be granted credits or exemptions for some units in this course.
